When deciding on a home, many of your questions should also focus on the future; i.e. maintenance, neighborhood, convenience, schools and taxes/fees. Here are some questions you should consider asking.
1. Maintenance
- Does anything need to be replaced?
- Does anything require ongoing maintenance?
- Are there any issues with flooding?
- What is the age/condition of the roof?
- What energy efficient features does the house have?
2. Neighborhood
- What is the appearance/ condition of nearby homes?
- What is the traffic like during the day, and night?
- Are there neighborhood restrictions?
- How often is garbage picked up?
3. Convenient to
- How far away is the supermarket?
- How long will my commute to work be?
- Is there child care in the area?
- How close is the nearest hospital?
- Is there public transportation in the area?
- Are there parks in the area?
4. Schools
- What is the reputation of the schools in the area?
- How many students are in each class?
- What quality teachers does the school have?
- What is the busing distance?
5. Taxes/Fees
- What are the current property taxes?
- How often are property taxes accessed?
- Are there neighborhood/ association fees?
